Our Test
Our test was performed on a PC running Windows XP Service Pack 2. After the initial 3MB download and install, we were immediately prompted for a program update. The update downloaded very quickly (approximately 10 seconds) and XoftSpySE then restarted.
Next, we were presented with a home and search page hijack warning. This screen allowed us to verify that our browser home and search pages were set to what we desired and had not been changed or hijacked by spyware programs. We were also given the option to change these pages if desired.
The program then began scanning our system using the default settings. The program scanned our running processes, registry keys, registry values, files and folders. The scan was very quick at approximately 3 minutes in length. In the end, 338404 items were scanned and 1 malicious file was identified.
The XoftSpySE anti-spyware interface is very friendly and easy to read. There are nine menu buttons located on the left hand side: Start Scan, General Settings, Scan Settings, Scheduling, Backup List, Ignore List, Scan Results, About, and Help.
To perform a scan it really is as simple as hitting the Start button and sitting back. What could be easier than that?!
